One of the most successful singers in the genre of "pop-soul" Yvette Marie Stevens, known as Chaka Khan, is going to visit Moscow for the first time and will give a single concert, which will feature all her hits and the lead single «I'm Every Woman», which conquered the top of American rhythm and-blues charts.
Concert in Moscow will be dedicated to the memory of one of the students and closest friends of Khan - Whitney Houston. The world-famous singer began her career with backing vocals of Chaka Khan, who subsequently became her friend. As a sign of respect for the creativity of her friend, in 1993 Whitney rehashed the single «I'm Every Woman». Also, the video was filmed, starring Chaka Khan, Whitney Houston and her mother - Cissy Houston.
Chaka Khan began her musical career at the age of 11. In 1972 she became the lead singer of the band "Rufus", which has recorded six platinum albums. Since 1978 she began performing solo and the first self-titled album brought the singer Grammy award in the category "Best R&B singer". Such prominent figures as Prince, Stevie Wonder and Mel Grandmaster Melli Mel were privy to the success of this work.
Recorded in 1984 single «I Feel For You» not only reached the second place in the national U.S. charts, but also headed the appropriate British chart. In the sequel Chaka Khan continued her solo career, participating in recordings by artists such as Stevie Wonder («Higher Love»), David Bowie («Underground»), Quincy Jones and Ray Charles («I'll Be Good To You»), as well as Joni Mitchel, Ry Cooder and Lenny Byte.
During her career Chaka Khan has recorded 11 solo albums, was nominated 22 times for the Grammy award and won the award 10 times. The singer has a star on the Walk of Fame, and in 2011 she was nominated for inclusion into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
