Bicycles have gained popularity in Moscow in recent years. Bike trails are currently few and are located mainly in Moscow’s parks (the longest bike trails are in Luzhniki, Vorobyevy Gory and Gorky Park), but the more savvy bicycle riders simply get around on the pavements.

Russian traffic regulation allows to use bicycles in the far right lane. There are bike rental services in parks and the city centre. It is necessary to have reflective panels (white at the front, red at the back), to wear a helmet and bright clothing that can easily be spotted by drivers.

A rear light and forward headlights are essential at night. When riding a bike, be especially careful and try to choose streets with fewer cars. Use reliable locks when parking your bike.

Is it possible to travel with bicycles in metro? Moscow metro regulations prohibit transportation of bicycles or other means of transport, excepting wheelchairs and baby carriages. Bicycles can be carried as luggage when they are dismantled and packed.
