Pompeya ideally suits the generation of ‘Strelka’ and ‘Solyanka’: phlegmatic boys, stylishly dressed up, who play trendy pop music of a superb non-Russian caliber. Apparently, this description can be applied to the dozens of bands, but Pompeya has made an enormous step ahead breaking away from the modish ghetto to the catalog of headliners, who are touring frequently and are widely adored. There are sufficient number reasons for that: modest charm of their music (and musicians themselves); supreme sound quality in comparison to the local standards (recorded in Los Angeles, the last album affects unconditionally); unobtrusive melodies which keep the one tight, and finally their appearance and style. Pompeya’s music is the version of the world seen through the Instagram filters — softer and gentler than the reality itself.
