Opera "Don Giovanni" directed by La Scala opens the 237th season of the Bolshoi Theater on 15 September
Director of the State Academic Bolshoi Theatre, Anatoly Iksanov revealed details of the repertoire in the new season.
The Bolshoi Theatre will open new theater season on 15 September. The company of Bolshoi will present to the public nine new productions, including the opera of Yuri Lyubimov with the music of Borodin "Prince Igor".
Opera "Don Giovanni" directed by the famous La Scala theater of Milan will open the 237th season. In addition to Mozart's opera, La Scala will present at the Bolshoi Theatre the orchestra symphonic program, conducted by Daniel Barenboim.
Particular attention is going to be paid to performances for children, for which will be released the opera and ballet performances.
Of course, the new season will not do without performances as "The Queen of Spades" and "The Tsar's Bride." As for the opera by Yuri Lyubimov, the selection of performers is currently completed. The rehearsals begin in September 2012. The exact date of the premiere of "Prince Igor" is not reported.
