«The origins of the master’s creative language». Mark Chagall
On 12 June the Engineering Building Tretyakov Gallery will host an exhibition of Mark Chagall's graphics, which make up a significant part of works belonging to the artist's family. The exhibition will feature master's works in conjunction with the folk art, as well as the "dependence" from many sources - that Jewish, Russian, Belarusian, Lithuanian and French environment that had been inspiring the artist throughout his life.
The jubilee exhibition will display over 100 works of graphic art, sculpture, paintings from the Tretyakov Gallery, Pushkin Fine Arts Museum, the National Ethnographic Museum, the Museum of Decorative-Applied and Folk Art, P. Gianadda Foundation (Switzerland), Russian and foreign private collections. The audience will be able to appreciate the little-known legacy of Mark Chagall, belonging to foreign collections, from the early Vitebsk drawings to later Paris collages. The exhibition is supplemented with subjects of applied art and folk art.
June 12 - September 30, Engineering Wing, Tretyakov Gallery, Lavrushinsky lane., 12.
